The sixth annual Anime Festival Wichita will be held at the downtown Hyatt in Wichita, Kansas July 9-11. Brought to you by Eagles Realm, this year’s festival will include many activities that gamers of all types can enjoy. The gaming room will open at 5pm Friday and will not close until 4pm Sunday. This free-play area will include games such as Rock Band, Dance Dance Revolution and many others. There will also be tabletop and video gaming Tournaments to be announced soon. In the past, Tournaments have included games such as Super Smash Bros Brawl, Streetfighter IV, Yu-Gi-Oh and Rock Band. Friday and Saturday night will feature the LARPing (Live-action Role Playing) game Legend of the Five Rings brought to you by the Way of Honor LARPing group. Cosplay will be encouraged and you can sign up for the Fashion Show or Cosplay skits. Saturday night will also feature a dance party headlined by Gothic/Industrial artist DJ Infamous.
Guests attending include Vic Mignogna, best known as Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist. Vic is one of the most prolific voice actors in the business, staring in over one hundred and fifty shows and video games. His other roles include Vega in Streetfighter II, as well as voices in the Soul Calibur, Disgaea and the Persona series.
Travis Willingham whom gamers should recognize as the voice talent behind Nathan Hale from Resistance 2 on PS3, Trogal in The Last Remnant, Clint in Tales of Verperia, plus quite a few other top-selling video games. He is also the voice behind Roy Mustang in Full Metal Alchemist.
Also appearing is Colleen Clinkenbeard, who has done voice work in such video games as Borderlands, Aeon Flux, Blood Rayne II, Stuntman, and the characters of Rose Thomas and Riza Hawkeye in the Full Metal Alchemist Anime and game series.
Passes for the event are on sale here. You can pick up a weekend pass right now for $30 or day passes for Friday are $12 and Saturday/Sunday day passes are $17. Weekend passes will be going up to $40 the day of the show. There is also a special Japanese themed dinner, including Karaoke with the guests for an extra $35 a plate, but they are advertising that only 20 dinner seats remain.
