Yesterday Hasbro and EA Games announced a new version of Monopoly that brings players down the street-level, which we’re still trying to decide for ourselves if we think it’s the best thing to ever happen to the 75-year-old game, or absolutely the worst. Ever wondered just what the Electric Company would looks like in high definition 3D? You’re in luck! You get to find out this fall, when Monopoly Streets comes to Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. The game features Wii Mii and Xbox Avatar support on their respective consoles, as well as promises “unique downloadable content” for the 360 and PS3.
As fun and timeless as classic Monopoly is to countless people, what we’re really hoping for is the possibility of  that “unique downloadable content” taking the form of extra board skins, or themes, such as a Star Wars Monopoly DLC pack, or Lord of the Rings Monopoly pack. You probably shouldn’t count on any Nintendo Monopoly DLC, though, unless it ships on the Wii disc. Check out the gallery below for 2 screenshots of the game, as well as the new “Dr. Monopoly” character and game logo.
